Miss Avery Kay. The sweetest, most precious girl to enter into our family. She was planned, yet we were surprised with how early she would be joining us. We were aiming to have the twins and the next child 2 years apart, but she joined us when they were 17 months old and we could not be any happier with the closeness in age. We're so glad she joined us when we did!
I didn't get as sick as I did when I was pregnant with the twins, but I still got sick! Pregnancy, especially the first trimester, kicks my butt! I wasn't expecting to be pregnant when I was. One morning, I was feeding the boys baby food (towards the end of June 2014) when just looking at the baby food made me incredibly nauseous. That was when I suspected being pregnant. I couldn't take looking at it, smelling it, and feeding them. I would throw up. Baby food made everything worse. For a couple of weeks, I just couldn't handle feeding the boys, so they lived off of formula and Gerber puffs/crunchies. I know, I'm a horrible mom! But you have no idea how rough it was for me.
I was actually pretty excited to be pregnant, but a lot of family weren't too thrilled (but they really were) with how close the kids were going to be and wondered if I could handle it. It made me sad a little bit, but I knew I would survive and I still accept the challenge every day and wouldn't have it any other way.
After getting through the first trimester and all the sickness, I publicly announced our pregnancy.
Being pregnant with a singleton was a complete one-eighty from being pregnant with twins. I worried and had anxiety a lot more with Avery then I did with the twins. Yes, I was more naive the first go around, but I also had ultrasounds every week to 2-3 times a week with the twins. With Avery, I had only 3 ultrasounds, which made me worry and stress. I wasn't able to see her a lot and I didn't have 101 appointments for measurements and making sure organs were developing. It was crazy to me, but that is normal to most pregnant women.
I didn't find out until 24 weeks that Avery was a girl. At the 19 week appointment, she didn't cooperate and would spread her legs. That's my modest little girl. :) We really wanted a girl, so we were incredibly happy and excited when we found out Avery was going to be a girl!
After finding out Avery was going to be a girl, the rest of the pregnancy flew by for me, except for the last 3 weeks. It was actually pretty tough to be pregnant after 33 weeks because that's all I was pregnant for with the twins. Going to 39 weeks was rough! Haha! I felt like I actually got bigger with her than I did with the twins.
In the meantime, I hired a photographer for the birth (best investment ever, by the way!), we moved out of our town home we were renting and moved into a new house that we just bought, we got all settled in, and bought Avery a crib and got things ready for her arrival.

February 12, 2015 at 8:24 am (eastern time), we welcomed the most perfect baby girl into the world and into our family! She weighed 8 pounds 6 ounces (more than the boys combined! That's why I was bigger) and was 20 inches long.

Here is a slideshow from her birth and of the boys meeting their new baby sister. :)
